Our Vision: That every child in Craven County has a safe, healthy and caring environment where each one can reach his or her full potential through strong families and a supportive community.

Our Mission: We provide Craven County families with educational information on child development, safety and parenting and promote the improvement of outcomes for families and children in our community.

Pinwheels for Prevention Child abuse programThe Community Coalition for Craven County Children (C5) was formed in 2011 as a result of the need for greater efforts toward child abuse prevention in Craven County.  The group is composed of concerned citizens, businesses, and community organizations and agencies, all of whom value children and want to improve the lives of children in our community.  The Coalition understands that child abuse and neglect are community issues and that no one organization or entity is responsible for the outcomes-it is a community issue.  Through collaboration, our resources can be effective in substantially reducing the incidence of child abuse and neglect and strengthening families.

C5 develops plans with strategies for awareness campaigns to educate the public on the issues and to strengthen families through information and opportunities on positive parenting.  The month of April is designated as Prevent Child Abuse Month and the Coalition plans activities and events to publicize the need for every citizen to join in and help.  Many groups offer opportunities for families during the month.  The Coalition works throughout the year to coordinate activities and provide advertising in conjunction with the media.  Funds raised are used to sponsor future events and awareness activities.

Meetings of C5 are held at Easter Seals, 2801 Neuse Blvd., New Bern on the second Monday of each month at 9:00 AM.  We hope you will join us or give us a call to see how you can help!
