The Opening Ceremonies for Prevent Child Abuse Month were held in Havelock and New Bern on April 6th and April 7th. The Proclamation for Prevent Child Abuse Month was read and the high school choruses from Havelock High and Epiphany Global School provided uplifting entertainment. The Keynote Speakers were from Child First and they spoke of the importance of identifying children who have suffered trauma and getting services for them. Pinwheel gardens were planted to remind our communities of the bright future of every child! Thank you to all who worked to coordinate the programs and all who attended!!!
Our Vision: That every child in Craven County has a safe, healthy and caring environment where each one can reach his or her full potential through strong families and a supportive community.
Our Mission: We provide Craven County families with educational information on child development, safety and parenting and promote the improvement of outcomes for families and children in our community.
C5 develops plans with strategies for awareness campaigns to educate the public on the issues and to strengthen families through information and opportunities on positive parenting. The month of April is designated as Prevent Child Abuse Month and the Coalition plans activities and events to publicize the need for every citizen to join in and help. Many groups offer opportunities for families during the month. The Coalition works throughout the year to coordinate activities and provide advertising in conjunction with the media. Funds raised are used to sponsor future events and awareness activities.
Meetings of C5 are held at Easter Seals, 2801 Neuse Blvd., New Bern on the second Monday of each month at 9:00 AM. We hope you will join us or give us a call to see how you can help!
